Wrestlemania 23, set for April 1 at Ford Field, is generating excitement -- not just for its 65,000 ticket-holders, but for bars, restaurants and hotels around downtown.

Another [Detroit-Wayne County Visitors Bureau] spokeswoman, Renee Monforton, did say that the
Central Florida Sports Commission's estimate of at least $25 million of
direct economic impact -- money that stays in the city -- is a
reasonable figure for Detroit.
The commission came up with the figure in preparation for Wednesday's
announcement that Orlando would host next year's WrestleMania 24 at the
Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.
The commission based its figure on a crowd estimate of 60,000 people,
according to Jason Maderer, a marketing manager for the Central Florida
Sports Commission.
It also worked off a study done by Enigma Research Corp., which found
that the 2004 WrestleMania at Madison Square Garden generated $13.5
million of economic impact in New York.
Madison Square Garden held a little more than 18,000 people.
