The Detroit Economic Growth Corporation took steps to ensure that the
Uniroyal portion of the Detroit RiverWalk was eligible to receive
federal clean-up fund. Now, construction will not have to wait for the
entire site to be readied.

Will Tamminga, director of projects for the Detroit Economic Growth
Corp., said engineering and design are likely to take most of 2008,
with construction of the RiverWalk along the Uniroyal site completed by
about 2010.
