UDM wins first prize at International Engineer Competition -- a robot making contest

University of Detroit Mercy snatched the top prize in a robot making contest. Actually, it's called the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition, an annual international competition created to offer cutting-edge design experience to engineering students. So, yeah, basically robots.

Excerpt:

Forty-seven teams representing 40 schools constructed their robots and competed against other universities throughout the world. Competitors included Princeton, Cornell, the University of Wisconsin Madison, Georgia Tech, Delhi College, Lawrence Tech, Hosei (Japan) and Panamerica, Ecole de Technologie Superieure (Canada).
