Council approves state lease for expansion of Tricentennial Park

Although there was controversy at the Detroit City Council table about
the length of time land would be leased to the state of Michigan for the proposed expansion of Tricentennial State Park, the body
approved the transaction.

Although there was controversy at the Detroit City Council table about
the length of time land would be leased to the state of Michigan for
the proposed expansion of Tricentennial State Park, the body
approved the transaction.

The 31 acre expansion will include a wetlands demonstration project, bike and pedestrian connections to the RiverWalk and Dequindre Cut and other uses as yet to be determined. Read a detailed description of the expansion here.
