The big event last week was Wednesday's State of the Union speech. And though there weren't as many tweets to choose from as there are when the Lions play (and lose), there still was some Detroit buzz surrounding the President's speech.
@toolz313 seemed to think the solution to our nation's woes could be found in our city:
Obama, get Detroit going and the whole country will prosper!
@TinaVane agreed that Detroit should be a priority:
Hey Obama if were going to throw away money to rebuild a third world hell-hole like Haiti, shouldn't we at least fix up Detroit first?
@technicalstress felt that the president's speech was a little insincere:
If Obama really cared 4 the unemployed & hurting americans, he should have flown 2 Detroit or other hard hit cities.
To others, there wasn't enough of a connection between the speech and Detroit.
@deeceevoice:
Obama, no mention at ALL of the wrking poor--just the middle class? U mention hick towns suffering & not Detroit w/50% unemployment? Fuck u!
Some tweeters were more focused on the background.
@craigbates:
I keep staring at Nancy Pelosi like my dog stares at the TV when "Animal Cops: Detroit" is on
And because sports just somehow seem to work their way into everything
… @jtlittle: compare how bad the SotU address was to the 2008 Detroit Lions
Keep reading and keep tweeting Detroit.
