Recruiting firm sells Detroit's positives, encourages diversity

Thomas Adams, president and founder of TJ Adams & Associates, works to bring new hires to the city by providing tours and contacts to the tentative.

"Your sales job becomes important," says Adams, who operates his 22-year-old business out of the historic Guardian Building. "You have to be sure that you are able to paint the picture of the town."

Adams says he takes new candidates on a tour of his Detroit to show off the city's gems -- the theaters, parks and stadiums. He keeps well-versed on the city's cultural events, new construction, good schools and other good qualities.
