Detroit ranked in top 10 of safest driving cities

Read what you want into it, it's pretty safe out there on the street, according to a report that said Detroit had the 10th safest streets in terms of collisions in America. For populations between 500,000 and one million, the city came in at number one with the average between collisions at 12.4 years.

The report, released Tuesday, looks at Allstate Insurance Company claim data to determine the likelihood drivers in America’s 200 largest cities will experience a vehicle collision to the national average. Allstate researchers looked at property damage reported claims from January 2005 to December 2006. A weighted average of the two-year numbers determined the annual percentages.
