Festival planned for RiverWalk next year; construction on track

A new downtown family festival called River Days  is in the works for July 2007, the nonprofit group Detroit Riverfront Conservancy said at a news conference at the General Motors Promenade on Friday.

According to the story:

Details of River Days are being worked out, but the event will have food and entertainment geared toward families, said Faye Alexander Nelson, president and chief executive officer of the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy.

The 3 1/2 -mile East River Walk is on track to be 75% complete by the end of 2006 and open by this time next year.
