OK, there is a silver-lining. Despite the fact that Detroit is near that bottom, according to Forbes, of the 40 cities featured for young professionals, it has moved up four spots. Baby steps, Detroit, remember that, baby steps.

While Motown remains in the bottom 10 nationally, it rose four spots this year, as the concentration of companies and graduates marginally improved from last year's list. A low cost of living and top-quartile salaries for college and professional school graduates helped its ascent.
