The recent Launch spectacle at the FD Lofts in Eastern Market and other sales events at the Detroit Athletic Club are examples of the
rise in elaborate parties used to help market new housing developments.

Realtor Sabra Sanzotta, owner of The Loft
Warehouses group in Detroit, was an organizer of both the Launch and
55 West Canfield events. “Housing is just part of the great
entrepreneurial mix of downtown,” Sanzotta said. “We attract creative,
progressive people and we want to foster that energy, so it seems
natural to celebrate that in all its forms.”

Sanzotta also called the Launch event the Rise of the Creative Class to pay homage to the theory
that areas that attract educated, innovative and slightly bohemian
types will be the economic winners in the 21st century.
