NAACP conference brings 14,000 visitors and $20-30M in economic impact

The national NAACP convention was held in Detroit last weekend, bringing lots of visitors to downtown.

Detroit NAACP Executive Director Heaster Wheeler says as many as 14,000 people are expected, with attendees spending a lot of money in the city. "We understand it's a $20 million to $30 million impact. What we Detroiters to do is find three or four or five reasons to come in to Cobo, to come into downtown Detroit and be a part of this NAACP convention," Wheeler told WWJ's Vickie Thomas.
