Citing their love for music and respect for
Michigan Opera Theatre director David DiChiera, Sarah and Doug Allison have made a $1 million donation to the theater.
Excerpts:
"It's corny to say that we just wanted to give back, but it is the
truth," Sarah Allison said. "Opera is a cultural experience and we're
proud to able to have that experience in Detroit."
The Allisons have been to opera houses all over the United States,
Russia, London and Italy, and said that the one in Detroit remains
unusual.
"Our theater retains that original 1920s character of (opera) houses that you don't see very often anymore," Doug said.
