Detroit Public Library displays books by students

Students from Flynn Middle School in Sterling Heights have written four books, totaling 15 volumes, which are on display at Detroit Public Library's main branch on Woodward. The works are in the HYPE (Helping Young People Excel) Teen Center of the library. The center, which opened in May at the branch at 5201 Woodward, provides children with books that promote good health and excellence in the classroom.

Kiratdeep Kahlon, 13, said a number of the Flynn books promote a healthy lifestyle.

"I think it makes me feel proud that I'm reaching out to everyone, not just people that I know," he said. "There are more people in Detroit."
