We certainly like hearing this, moving local education to another level. Two Detroit public schools are launching a partnership with Baltimore's Johns Hopkins University and three other agencies to implement "Diplomas Now," a program that aims to keep children on track toward graduation and college.

Such collaborations between schools, City Year, Communities in Schools and Talent Development/Johns Hopkins University, has increased academic performance and decreased truancy and negative behavior in national trials in urban school districts, according to DPS.
