International journalists see positive changes in the D

To journalists from around the world, the auto show in Detroit is a must-cover. And redevelopment efforts in downtown Detroit have not gone unnoticed.

Excerpt:

I love Detroit because of the history here," said [Italian television producer Milena] Ripellino. "Something happened in the past that changed the world, the beginning of the production of cars in an industrial way. And for music, Motown was born here."

Ripellino said she feels safe visiting Detroit, but that wasn't the case when she first covered the auto show seven years ago.

"I had a perception of a town after the war," Ripellino said. "You took the sky train (People Mover) and there were destroyed skyscrapers."
