Infrastructure construction at Herman Gardens site to begin this month

Infrastructure work for the $228 million mixed-use development at the Herman Gardens site will begin by the end of Feb., according to Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

New streets and sidewalks are to be installed, along with water and sewer lines and public lighting. The first phase of housing construction will follow this summer, Kilpatrick said. Overall, the plan envisions about 920 single-family homes, condos, lofts and townhouses.
