Back in the late 1950s and early 1960s the Hamtramck Little League team was a sight to behold, or so they say. The
Bleacher Report has ranked them the fourth best Little League World Series winner of all time. The piece also asks those in Hamtramck to reach out and let them know you're out there. So, go ahead and do that.
Excerpt from the
Bleacher Report:
Hamtramck, Michigan might not sound like a real place, but
when they beat Auburn, California 12-0 for the 1959 LLWS, I still didn't
think it was a real place. In fact, I couldn't find any proof of it's
existence and I was forced to use a picture of Comerica to represent
Michigan baseball. If anyone from Hamtramck is reading this, let us
know you're out there.
Anyway, what made this win so monumental
was that it was the first win by an American team since the tournament
went international. So this was kind of a serious one at No. 4.
