Development vet takes reigns at Habitat for Humanity

Detroit Habitat for Humanity has named finance and development veteran Vincent Tilford to lead its efforts. Rob Dewaelsche left his post as executive director after five years to become the Detroit-based neighborhood development manager at Habitat for Humanity International.

Excerpts:

Previously, Tilford served as senior vice president of Charter One Bank in Troy, where he managed its housing bank program which provided low-interest construction and permanent loans to develop affordable housing.

He brings nearly 20 years of finance and community development experience.

At Habitat for Humanity, Tilford is overseeing a current budget of about $7 million and 25 employees.
