Eastern Market receives $500,000 to update sheds

A few of the historic Eastern Market sheds are getting makeovers this summer. The market received a $500,000 grant that will go toward sheds No. 3 and No. 4. Last summer they began a $14 million project to renovate five of the sheds. Shed No. 1 was dismantled and moved to  Greenfield Village, while Shed No. 2's renovations are expected to be completed  by May 18 for Flower Day.

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation plans to make a $500,000 grant to Eastern Market Corp. Thursday.

The grant will support updates and winterization of the market’s Shed No. 3, which is expected to begin in 2009, along with Shed No. 4, said Kimberly Hill, director of communications.
