Excerpt:
Natural Home, an environmental publication, selected Earthworks
Urban Farm as No. 3 of its top ten farms for its active role in
providing food for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, running an educational
youth program and contributing to the health of local residents by
offering fresh produce for consumption.
Earthworks Urban Farm
began in 1997 on a small plot at the corner of Meldrum and St. Paul and
has since grown into several lots near the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
Members of the Youth Farm Stand Program, an educational program for
youths age 11 to 16, operate most of the markets.
Earthworks
also participates in Project FRESH, a program designed to bring produce
markets closer to low-income families and provide free produce to
clients of the Women Infant and Children (WIC) organization.
