The Sam Roberts Band revisits Detroit's history in their song "Detroit '67."

The song is the product of Roberts' longtime fascination with Detroit.

"When I was a child we'd take trips in the family station wagon and pass through Detroit on the way to visit an aunt in Indiana," he says by phone from his Montreal home. "I was always wide-eyed whenever we came across the Ambassador Bridge. It was almost a moment of mythical transformation. One moment you're in Canada and then you see the Motor City skyline and you're in The United States of America. Your world changes completely, and Detroit was like the gateway to that for me."
