This September 6 will mark the 31st year for the Dally in the Alley,
one of Detroit's most anticipated cultural events. This year, however, will
be the first time in the Dally's history to showcase two official
festival artists. They are being invited to create pieces detailing their
own personal stance on the subject of the Dally and Detroit itself.
Excerpt:
What began as an inner city art fair in 1977 evolved into a performing arts festival when it was moved to its present alley and renamed in 1982 to “Dally in the Alley," the title of a medieval drinking song. Great musical talent, equally great beer and a remarkable string of fabulous September weather has indelibly marked the alley between Hancock and Forest in Detroit’s Midtown as the site as one of the best one-day festivals in the Midwest.
