Foodtv.ca (that's Canada folks) takes a look at Detroit's Coney dogs

Ah, Coney dogs, there isn't a heartburn better than one pulled from a chili soaked bun at two in the morning. The Food Network (Canadian-style) went out looking, and tasting, Detroit's best Coney.

Michiganders, as well as tourists, will fiercely debate and defend their choice for the best Coney Dog. The ultimate Coney will have a soft almost non-existent bun, thick and meaty sauce, sweet crunchy onions, and yellow mustard with a bit of tang, in addition to a dog that gives a fantastic bite when you sink your teeth into it. The greatest contest is often between the two original places American and Lafayette Coney Island located in downtown Detroit. The popular favourite on food blogs, like local favourite Coney Detroit, is Lafayette, but my husband and I thought we may need to check this out for ourselves.
