Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan has pledged $15 million to
the near east-side neighborhoods that extend north of the Detroit River
and the Riverfront Conservancy's investment along its edge.
Excerpt:
"There's a lot of investment on the riverfront, and that's great," said
Community Foundation President Mariam Noland. "But the expectation has
always been that there would be a broader positive impact on the city
and the region; this fund is helping to make that happen. What's
interesting to Ford, Kellogg and us is that both the new and the old
neighborhoods benefit from what is happening within them and around
them."
