Archeology students dig up past at Workers Rowhouse

Wayne State University's Archeology Department is conducting a dig at the Workers Rowhouse Experience in Corktown as a semester-long class. Students have already turned up a wild pig tusk and shards of pottery.

Because the house's history spans the foundation of riverfront farms to industrial laborers flocking to the area, excavations trace the "orientation of Detroit from regional center to major industrial metropolis," [Professor] Killion said.
