Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano hopes to create a state and local
tax-free zone in the county to provide an incentive for biotechnology
firms, specifically those that deal with alternative fuels, to set up
shop. The tax-free status would last 15 years.
His plan aims to bring more alternative fuel facilities to Wayne
County, add more gas stations that sell ethanol-based fuel, and get the
Legislature to agree to a zero tax on alternative fuel.
