Garage rock revival: Pioneering 1980s band Hysteric Narcotics back with release party at Paycheck’s
Feb. 6, 8 p.m.
Paycheck’s was the place for indie and high energy rock in the early 1980s, when it welcomed bands from around the world (believe it or not, crypto-rock archivists: we saw the Sex Gang Children, the Gun Club and John Cale there in a span of few months) and Detroit bands like Vertical Pillows, Hysteric Narcotics and literally hundreds more (including White Stripes a full decade later).
We can’t bring back the grimy past, but we can steer you back to Paycheck’s for a reunion of the Hysteric Narcotics, who will have a new compilation CD of outtakes, unreleased and live material (all recorded between 1983 and 1989) for sale at the show. As a bonus: come early and stay late for DJs the legendary Jim Shaw and Danny Kroha (Gories, Demolition Doll Rods).
Saturday, Feb. 6, 8 p.m. at Paycheck’s Lounge, 2932 Caniff in
Hamtramck.
