Philanthropic leader and city expert Judith Rodin to speak at Wayne on future of cities

The President of the Rockefeller Foundation, Judith Rodin, will discuss "Reinventing American Cities for the 21st Century" at Wayne next week. The event, held at McGregor Memorial Conference Center, will begin at 5:30 p.m, April 28. It is sponsored by the Richard C. Van Dusen Endowment at WSU.

Rodin, before coming to the Rockefeller Foundation in 2005, was president of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was the first woman to serve as president of an Ivy League school. Rodin has written more than 200 academic articles and wrote, or co-wrote, 12 books, including her most recent title The University & Urban Renewal: Out of the Ivory Tower and Into the Streets.

Though the event is free and open to the public, reservations are required to attend. Go to www.specialevents.wayne.edu/van-dusen-lecture-detroit-orientation, or contact Jill Horner at [email protected], or call (313) 577-8819.
