Food trucks are becoming an increasingly visible part of the food scene in the greater downtown Detroit area, and the
Fisher Building plans to seize that buzz with its own food truck rally on Friday.
"It's a great show of support for these local, independent food providers," says Christina Dibartlomeo, asset manager for
Farbman Group. "It's gives people a change to get something to eat outside of their normal routine."
Think of it as a quality of life enhancement for the New Center area. The Farbman Group, which owns the Fisher Building and New Center One office buildings, sees the food truck rally as a pleasant change of pace that helps make the neighborhood more dynamic without harming local brick-and-mortar businesses.
"It's so nice to have options," Dibartlomeo says. "These aren't permanent fixtures to our building. It's competition and competition is not bad. It's nice to have diversity in what you eat and you routine."
The food truck rally will take place at the parking lot on the west side of the Fisher Building that is bordered by West Grand Boulevard, Third Street and Lothrup Street. It will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Among the food trucks that will be there are
Treat Dreams,
Concrete Cuisine and
El Guapo Fresh Mexican Grill.
