Excerpts:

The new deputy director of the Detroit Planning and Development Department said Friday he will focus on finding “more money, money, money” to make deals happen.

Douglass Diggs, a former executive at the nonprofit Detroit Renaissance organization, will replace Henry Hagood.

Diggs will manage the city’s surplus real estate, home repair programs and lead abatement efforts and work with developers and project managers.

“It’s just a matter of getting these deals put together and keeping them together,” Diggs said. “Our goal is going to be to expedite the process and keep them held together.”
