Dark Talk series in Power House neighborhood makes news on German blog

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Last week, we attended a talk by Kresge Arts Grant winner Steve Hughes, who did his disembodied thing from a coffin-shaped hole in a pitch black house on Moran St. south of Davison. The previous night, artist Elliot Earls gave a talk in the hole, as did designers and OmniCorpDetroit hacker space co-founding members (not to mention Dethlab DJs) Michael Doyle and Bethany Shorb the night before that. Strange? You bet. Pushing the creative envelope just the way we like it in Detroit? Oh, yes.

The talks were part of a series of design lectures by Dutch group Type Radio, which has been doing some work in the same neighborhood where Mitch Cope and Gina Reichert launched their Power House Project.

Dark Talk was also documented on the German blog, Fontblog.de. It’s in German, but Google will translate for you. The pictures tell most of the story anyway. See it here.
