Cheli’s chili opens rooftop deck for Tigers’ season

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Cheli’s Chili Bar at 47 W. Adams St. has opened up a rooftop deck for the rest of the Tigers’ baseball season.

The
2,400-square-foot deck is on top of the bar and looks into Comerica
Park. Although spectators from the roof won’t be able to see the field,
they will be able to see the scoreboard, post-game fireworks and get a
general feel for the game.

The deck consists mostly of open area
for fans to mingle, along with a small bleachers section. Management
also plans to install a bar and bathrooms on the roof by the end of the
season.

The rooftop deck is part of the $5-million renovation of
the former Women’s Exchange Building. The 19th-century structure had
been vacant for about 15 years before Detroit Red Wings defenseman
Chris Chelios bought the three-story, Tudor-styled building.
