El Barzon

Jan. 28, 7 p.m.

Safe to say that if wine expert Putnam Weekley recommends it, we’re popping the cork and drinking it. And if he says a new era of natural wine begins this Thursday, we are eager to believe it. On that night, the new Bonny Doon wines will be introduced to local wine drinkers at El Barzon, where Weekley (see this Q&A with him published in Model D here) is beverage manager and weekend bartender.

Randal Grahm’s trailblazing Bonny Doon winery has been radically downsized, or rather “doon-sized,” Weekley says. This has allowed Grahm to dedicate his production to biodynamic methods. All ingredients are listed on the label. These California wines come with new Michigan wholesale representation and El Barzon has been selected to introduce them.

Come drink six new wines, carefully paired with six courses. Seating is limited. $39 includes tax and tip. Send him an email to reserve a spot.
Jan. 28, 7 p.m., at El Barzon, 3710 Junction St., Detroit.
