Shigeto opens ‘When Attitudes Became Form’ show at MOCAD

When Attitudes Became Form Become Attitudes is a sequel to a 1969 exhibition called Live In Your Head: When Attitudes Become Form (Works – Concepts – Processes – Situations – Information), curated by Harald Szeemann at Kunsthalle Bern in Switzerland.

The 1969 show brought together new tendencies in the art known today as Postminimalism, Arte Povera, Land art and Conceptual art, from Western Europe and the United States. Look for a continuation of those heady themes at the exhibition beging this weekend at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD).

Friday’s opening is party time with Ghostly International artist Shigeto (better known to his Ann Arbor family and friends as Zach Saginaw). Shigeto’s music is indebted to instrumental hip-hop (think Ann Arbor’s Tadd Mullinex as an inspiration), but also includes ambient, IDM, dubstep and jazz.

Opening night is Friday, Feb. 1, 9 p.m. MOCAD is at 4454 Woodward Ave., Midtown.
