Detroit Film Theatre

March 30, 3 p.m.

These Amazing Shadows takes bits of America’s most-beloved films (and some rare treasures) and makes the point that cinematic art is often life changing in its impact.

Appearing in the documentary film are directors Julie Dash, Christopher Nolan, John Lasseter, Rob Reiner, John Singleton, Barbara Kopple, and John Waters; as well as producers, archivists, actors and members of the National Film Preservation Board.

There is one showing only this weekend: Saturday, March 30 at 3 p.m. It will be introduced by Julie Dash (Daughters of the Dust) and followed by a Q&A afterwards.

It’s at the Detroit Film Theatre, inside the Detroit Institute of Arts, 5200 Woodward Ave., in Midtown’s Cultural Center.
