Detroit designers to host fashion show on the People Mover
After maintaining an increase in ridership post-Superbowl, the Detroit
People Mover is set to add a new feather to its circle: fashion show
runway. Wound, a menswear label designed by Sarah Lurtz and Sarah
Lapinski, will premier its fall 2006 line on March 11 on the People
Mover.
“We have a fondness for the People Mover,” explains Lapinski. Lurtz
adds, “We want to show people that it really does take you places and
gives you a different vantage point of the city.”
Guests will board the People Mover at 3:30 p.m. at the Financial
District station, located a stones-throw from Wound’s home base, the
Pure Detroit Design Lab. After viewing the show, which will wind
through two DPM trains and across a platform at a “surprise” stop,
attendees will re-board the train to return to the Design Lab for
clothing purchases, food and drink.
Mosaic, Coach Insignia, Pegasus, Slow’s Bar B Q, Baile Corcaigh, Olso
and Twingo’s are supplying edibles for the event. Motor City Brewing
Works beer will be served, and Veritas will be supplying wine and
champagne to the festivities.
