UM to offer urban planning course in Detroit this spring
The University of Michigan Taubman School of Architecture + Urban
Planning plans to offer five urban and regional planning courses in its
spring session, including one in Detroit.
These courses will be open to undergraduate and graduate UM students,
as well as working professionals looking to broaden their base of
knowledge or earn continuing education credits.
Guiding Metropolitan Change: Introduction to Land-Use Planning and Growth Management
will be offered at the UM Detroit Center at Orchestra Place. “We’re
really geeked about this. We want there to be activity at the Detroit
Center all the time,” says Eric Dueweke of the Taubman School’s Urban
and Regional Planning Department.
The other four spring courses will be offered in Ann Arbor and include
History of Housing in the United States, Historic Preservation and
Urban Conservation, Funding Your Ideas: Grant and Proposal Writing, and
Introduction to Geographic Information Systems.
Classes run from May 2 to June 23. Tuition for non-UM students is
$1,349 for one course, or $2,525 for two to three courses. Click here for more information.
