Excerpts from the article:

A parent called the man in charge of technology for Detroit Public Schools in January to ask when a long-promised computer lab at the school would open. On the same day, America Online called to offer to equip a computer lab.

Tom Arnold — comedian and host of “The Best Damn Sports Show Period” — and AOL representatives appeared during an assembly at the school, where the company announced a donation of $80,000 in computer equipment.

The lab, which opens Friday, includes 30 computers equipped with the latest software, two laser printers, a projector, a plasma television and workstations for each of the computers. AOL also paid a portion of the cost to refurbish the room for use as a lab.
