Oh TIME, we hardly knew thee.

You swept in and purchased that delectable West Village manse, and we thought you’d be writing cover stories on our grit and posting really cool photo galleries and blogging about our creativity forever. All good things must come to an end, we guess, so we bid a fond farewell to the TIME Detroit team. They’ve put the house on the market for the same price they bought it ($99,000) and plan to donate the proceeds to four local charities.

The editors have chosen four Detroit non-profit groups that devote
themselves to the education and support of the city’s youth to be the
recipients of $25,000 grants. The four groups represent a mixture of
national organization and grassroots initiative: Teach for
America-Detroit, InsideOut Literary Arts Project, City Year Detroit and
Covenant House Michigan. Said Time Inc. editor in chief John Huey: “What
groups like these show is that people of good will haven’t given up on
Detroit — especially not on its kids.”

TIME Detroit blogger Karen Dybis is still in the area, but we bid a fond farewell to all those travelers, scribes and digital artists who found their way to our city this year. Thanks for the memories — and the ink. We have a feeling you’ll be back to visit soon.
