Michigan Nursing Corp. gives $258,000 nursing education grant to UDM

The University of Detroit Mercy has gotten a grant to help address the state's nursing shortage.

The Michigan Nursing Corps is giving the university's College of Health Professions a $258,000 grant to help the school train more nurses. The grant will help pay for educational and clinical nursing faculty. The idea is to reduce the wait-times for potential nursing students.

There is a critical shortage of nurses in Michigan, and it's coupled with another shortage of nursing faculty and facilities to meet the demand.
