University of Detroit Mercy has launched courses in the design and development of hybrid vehicles.

The course offered starting Sept. 4 for the fall term will provide an understanding of the state of the art of the hybrid vehicle industry, from environmental aspects to engineering and manufacturing considerations and customer expectations.
For selected vehicles' architecture, cost benefit analysis for the consumer as well as the manufacturer's rationale for the vehicle production will be studied. It will also review the evolving trends, opportunities, and challenges for the industry.
