It’s going to be all about the music and the business behind the music at the
Russell Industrial Center's Spring Open House this weekend.
The event will showcase top locally grown entertainment acts like
Amp Fiddler, the people at
LoudFeed.com, who will speak about making a living in the music/entertainment business. Chazz Miller will perform at the event. Topics include taking music global, utilizing Internet marketing and social media, handling booking agents and management companies and how to make money in music through diversification.
The
Russell Industrial Center, located on Clay Street overlooking I-75, is an old factory that has been transformed into an unofficial incubator for artists and business start-ups. These have ranged from artists looking for few hundred feet of studio space to fledgling marketing firms and music labels looking for a place to get a start. All of the space is cheap and rough enough to give these entrepreneurs plenty of creative freedom.
The Spring Open House is from 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday, March 21, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 22.
The Russell Industrial Center is at
1600 Clay St. For information, contact Eric Novack at (313) 471-9750.
