The University of Detroit Mercy is looking for a few good poets in its student ranks through its Dudley Randall Student Poetry Competition.
The university's English Department uses the competition to honor one of its own. Randall served as the university's librarian and founded the Broadside Press. He also enjoyed dabbling in poetry.
Poems must be no more than 55 typed lines and written in English. Students must put their student ID on them, not their name. The annual competition is for undergraduate students. Prizes range from $100 to first place to $25 for third. The deadline for submissions is 6 p.m. Wednesday.
For information, go to the university's Liberal Arts Office or contact Prof. Claire Crabtree at
[email protected] or (313) 993-1080.
