Strategic Staffing Solutions is capping off its 20th consecutive year of growth with the biggest gains in company history, including the creation of 150 new jobs in downtown Detroit.
Strategic Staffing Solutions' earnings hit $205 million in 2010, surpassing its sales goals and setting new internal records for revenue growth and job creation. The firm has grown in each of its 20 years, averaging a 23 percent compounded growth rate. One of the primary drivers of that growth is Strategic Staffing Solutions' Detroit Development Center in the Penobscot Building.
Strategic Staffing Solutions opened the center last April, insourcing IT work that has been taken overseas for years. Strategic Staffing Solutions has grown the customer base for the Detroit Development Center, its original customer was Blue Cross Blue Shield, and subsequently the center's staff from 53 people to 200 today. It has now become the leader of insourcing IT work in downtown Detroit.
"I remember when we had our ribbon cutting last April," says Cynthia Pasky, president and CEO of
Strategic Staffing Solutions. "We got some good press but people said, 'It's in Detroit. It won't work. S3 thinks it can do it but it won't work.' Of course we knew we could do it and we did do it.
It's trendy now and that's a good thing."
Pasky expects Strategic Staffing Solutions to continue its growth streak in 2011. She also expects that continued growth in insourcing and emerging sectors for Strategic Staffing Solutions like financial and health-care will allow the company to continue adding jobs to downtown Detroit this year.
