Quicken Loans is planning to hold job fairs at Wayne State University and elsewhere in Metro Detroit to fill about 110 openings, mostly at its downtown offices.
The downtown-based mortgage lender is looking for a variety of positions, including mortgage bankers, IT, marketing, public relations, human resources, executive assistant and legal, among others. The company is also looking to fill internships. All of these positions are available in the Quicken Loans' family of companies, including
Fathead and
One Reverse Mortgage.
"We're looking for people who are really good at what they do," says Michelle Salvatore, director of recruiting for
Quicken Loans. "We are good at taking people with potential and growing them into positions."
She adds Quicken Loans doesn't pigeon hole its employees into specific jobs and provides opportunities for advancement. for example, Quicken Loans CEO, Bill Emerson, started out as a mortgage banker with the company.
Quicken Loans currently employs 1,700 people in a couple of floors of the Compuware Building. It is looking at moving another 2,000 people to downtown later this year, and has looked at purchasing or leasing downtown additional office space to make that possible. Quicken Loans end goal is to have all of its family of companies based in downtown Detroit.
Quicken Loans will host a job fair at Wayne State between 1-4 p.m. Friday in the Student Center Ballroom on the university's main campus in Midtown. Quicken Loans will also hold job fairs at Lawrence Technological University (1-4 p.m. today), Michigan State University (6-8 p.m. Wednesday), Monroe Community College (10 a.m to 2 p.m. April 15) and Henry Ford Community College (3-6 p.m. April 19).
