D:hive, a new program to attract and retain creative and entrepreneurial talent in Detroit, is setting up shop in downtown Detroit in the Inside Detroit offices on Woodward Avenue.
D:hive is headed up by Josh McManus who has spearheaded similar efforts in Tennessee. He recently moved from Chattanooga to Brush Park to push forward the D:hive initiative, which is being funded by a grant from the
Hudson-Webber Foundation. It is also receiving help from the Detroit Downtown Partnership, Detroit Economic Growth Corp and Quicken Loans.
"D:hive is the nexus of energy of attraction and retention of creative and entrepreneurial talent to the city," McManus says.
The new initiative has eight people working on it. That staff will help newcomers to Detroit looking to stake a claim in the Motor City connect with resources and people. It could be as simple as helping them find a place to live to showing them potential places to open or move a business. McManus hopes to be helping thousands of people within his first year, complimenting the similar work already going on in the city.
