Big Fuel continues hiring as it expands downtown office

Big Fuel, the social media agency of record for General Motors, has established a sizeable office in downtown Detroit.

The New York City-based business opened the office at 150 W Jefferson Ave with five people. Today Big Fuel employs 40 people there, nearly one quarter of the 7-year-old firm's total work of 190 people. The firm hopes to further expand its office as it continues to go after new revenue streams in Metro Detroit.

"We're also actively looking for new contracts to broaden client base," says Robert Anderson, managing director of Big Fuel.

Big Fuel chose to set up shop in downtown Detroit partly to be near its biggest customer, GM, but also because of the growing vibrant new economy culture in downtown Detroit. Anderson says it was his first choice for office space because his firm has a strong commitment to city centers.

"I love it in downtown," Anderson says. "It has a lot of character and a great energy."
