After 5 Detroit set to surpass summer intern program numbers this year

After 5 Detroit is gearing up to launch its summer internship social life program for some of downtown's most prominent corporations, and this year looks to significantly surpass last year's numbers.

"We're certainly hoping to surpass (last year's intern participation count of 400)," says Kerry Doman, founder & CEO of After 5 Detroit, a downtown-based business focused on providing social and nightlife opportunities for local businesses. "We already have 350 interns signed up."

The After 5 Intern Program debuted last summer as way to get more young people interning at local companies acclimated with living, working and playing in downtown Detroit through a combination of parties, tours and after-work sports teams. This summer's lineup of outings includes kickball games, a restaurant crawl, an Eastern Market tour, networking happy hours and loft and rooftop parties.

"It's one thing to see pictures of a downtown loft," Doman says. "It's another thing to walk into a loft and say, 'Wow, I could see myself living here."

So far five companies will participate in the program, but Doman expects several more to sign up once they have their own summer internship lineups and candidates finalized. Companies can enroll their interns or new hires in the The After 5 Intern Program for $95 per person. For information, contact Doman at (248) 703-6224 or via email at [email protected].
