The Detroit Derby Girls are taking a once forgotten sport and bringing it alive through some tough competition.

The league of about 65 skaters has grown in its year-and-a-half existence through word of mouth and appealing to skaters in various ways.
During a bout, two teams of five skaters face off on a flat, oval track. Only one player from each team, the jammer, can score by passing the other team’s skaters, who try to block their opponent’s jammer and make holes for their own jammer to skate through.
