Public Pool

Sept. 15, 7-11 p.m.

George Rahme is a talented, Hamtramck-based artist of rare gifts. He is shown, represented and collected in New York, though he is less well-known at home. Figures. His solo show beginning this Saturday at Public Pool aims to change that tune.

Though the show has its official opening this weekend, Rahme is already in the gallery every day, treating Public Pool as his personal studio, working on big, colorful pieces in view of the public walking down Caniff Avenue or across the street at Al-Harramain International Foods.

Rahne is also an accomplished DJ and will spin vinyl at the opening with Martin Anand, an electro-punk musician and creative entrepreneur who moved from Dusseldorf to Detroit in the late 1990s. He also now lives in Hamtramck.

The opening runs 7-11 p.m., Sept. 15. Beer by Traffic Jam.
